It is not Returned

It hurts.
You try your hardest. You strive for perfection. You strive for love.
It is not returned.
You give your all. You give yourself. You give beyond yourself.
It is not returned.
You feel the pain. You hurt. You feel.
It is not returned.
You cry. You laugh. You scream.
You scream so loud and so long that is all starts to run together.
You fall. You bleed. You can't go on.
It is not returned.
You feel it in your bones. You feel it in your skin. You feel in your toes.
It is not returned.
The love.
The love you thought was certain.
This love you knew was yours.
This love you banked on.
This love you relied on.
This love. Your foundation.
Never to falter.
It is not returned.
You stop. You breathe.
You move on.
