Peer into my eyes

Sometimes when I see someone in public and make brief eye contact with them I feel that I can see into their lives.  Suddenly I found myself escaping into their daily routines. Where do they live? What is their job?  Do they have someone to love them?  The eyes have been called the windows to the soul. But do we ever truly let people into our life? Are our windows closed to others around us? Very few people in this world are open books. In fact, when someone lives their life as an open book they are often not accepted.  "Why does that person keep telling me things about his life?"  A friendship, marriage, work relationship can't grow without someone willing to open their book and let the other person read it.  As I get older I have found that I am very intentional with who I pursue to spend m time with, who I build friendships with.  Why spend time with someone who you don't enjoy their company just because....well just because.  Surround yourself with people who are real. Whose eyes are wide and their soul windows are open. Yes, you will end up being hurt but when both windows open up it's a wonderful thing.  The eyes. It's all in the eyes.
